Devon Falls

Devon Falls is 97m high and it is situated on a tributary of the Kotmale Oya. The name is derived from the nearby Devon Estate. Devon Fall is one of the best known waterfalls in Sri Lanka, not least because it is visible on the A7 road west of Talawakele. Indeed, the fall has become a major tourist attraction, with a special lay-by at a prominent viewpoint. Furthermore, the fall is one of the most arresting sights on the Kandy to Nuwara Eliya railway line, as Bella Woolf reveals in How to See Ceylon (1914): "There are several waterfalls along the line, but the finest of all from the train is the Devon Fall."
