St Clair's Falls

St Clair's Falls

St Clair's Falls are unusual as they comprise a double cascade from different water sources. The biggest waterfall, the Maha Ella - 80m high - is situated on the Kotmale Oya. This waterfall flows over a rock ledge, divides into three cascades, and plunges into a pool, producing vaporous veils. The smaller of the two, the Kuda Ella. 50m high - is situated on a tributary of the Kotmale Oya. Most visitors will view these falls from the A7 because - as with the Devon Falls - St Clair's Falls are set close to this road, just 3km from Talawakele.
